School’s Out Everyone Welcome Swim and Skates

Stay active on your day off from school with a swim at Ravensong Aquatic Centre or a skate at Oceanside Place Arena. Friday, November 1: EW Swim 1:00 to 2:30 pm. EW Skate 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Reduced-rate admission.

Babysitters Certification Program 11-14yrs

Become a Red Cross certified babysitter. This course introduces basic first aid, how to respond to emergency situations, explains baby and childcare, offers advice on becoming a responsible babysitter, and tips for finding babysitting jobs. Price includes manual and certificate. Qualicum Commons, on Sunday, November 3 or December 1 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Cost is $49.

Dad’s Night Out: Free Skate

Dads, bring the kids to Oceanside Place Arena and enjoy a free skate together on the pond Tuesdays, November 5 and December 3 from 6:45 to 7:45 pm. This free skate is sponsored by our partners at Building Learning Together.

Canvas Art for Kids and Teens 7-15yrs

Jenny Hughes will guide you through how to paint a fantastic yet surprisingly simple acrylic painting. No experience necessary. All supplies are provided. View painting project online. Fun in the Jungle, ages 7-11yrs on Thursday, November 7 from 4:00-5:30 pm at Oceanside Art Studio, the cost is $25. Splish Splash Everyone Welcome Swim

Splish splash everyone welcome swims at Ravensong Aquatic Centre are a water adventure you don’t want to miss. The lifeguards are going to bring out the pool toys for you to enjoy. From the rope swing to the snake there will be water play for everyone. These swims are on Saturdays, November 9, December 7 and 14 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and on Monday, December 9 and 16 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Regular admission.

Red Cross AED/CPR C

Save a life when only seconds count. Get trained. This course is required for lifeguards and health care professionals. Topics covered are CPR and blocked airways for adults, children and infants and an introduction to automated external defibrillators (AED). Qualicum Commons, on Saturday, November 23
from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost is $75.

Training includes home hazards, accident prevention, safety education, CPR, first aid skills for common emergencies and automated external defibrillators (AED). Retraining is recommended every three years. Qualicum Commons, on Saturday, November 23 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, the cost is $89.

Rudolph’s Christmas Preschool Party 2-5yrs

The elves are busy planning an exciting party for you and your parents to enjoy. A variety of craft stations and a special circle time will get you all in the holiday spirit. Parent participation is required. Oceanside Place Arena on Saturday, December 14 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Cost is $12.

Winter Wonderland On Ice

December 14–31
It is a holiday tradition to take part in this magical skating event at Oceanside Place Arena. Special lighting and décor make you feel as though you are skating on an outdoor pond at night. Even if you do not skate, come by and view the lights from the deck. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome. The public skating schedule with free skating events will be available on November 18th at rdn.bc.ca/recreation.

Holiday Swim

Visit Ravensong for holiday cheer and to play reindeer games at the pool. Santa will be dropping by to say “Ho, Ho, Ho”. Ravensong Aquatic Centre on Saturday, December 21 1:30 to 5:00 pm. New Year’s Eve Family Celebration

Celebrate New Year’s Eve family-style at Oceanside Place Arena. Enjoy the last skate of the year on Winter Wonderland, join the family fun pond hockey, make a craft, listen to great entertainment and join in the early countdown at 8:00 pm. Tuesday, December 31st from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets required and are available December 10 at Oceanside Place Arena. Free admission is courtesy of Tim Horton’s.

Polar Bear Splash

The annual Polar Bear Splash is Wednesday, January 1, 2020, 12 noon at Parksville Beach. Start your New Year with a splash. Come down and join in the fun, either as a spectator, volunteer or participant who takes the splash into the water.
