She’s in Nature Guided Hike –Ammonite Falls/ Benson Creek Falls Regional Park

Cascading falls highlight a rock sheet filled with ammonite fossils. The hike is approximately one hour at a leisurely pace, with an optional rope section to access the base of the waterfall.

Parks 101 Tour – Benson Creek Falls Regional Park

An RLC Park Naturalist will show you the trails, unique aspects, and opportunities in some of the region’s best natural areas.  This tour is great for both newcomers and those who are familiar but maybe haven’t fully explored our local RDN Parks and Trails. Mount Cokely Guided Alpine Hike

Ascend via the “Saddle” route and scramble to the summit ridge using handholds and careful foot placement for a rewarding view including a possible glimpse of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Transportation is provided from Ravensong Aquatic Centre to the trailhead. This guided day trip is rigorous and meant to introduce fit hikers to our precious and popular mid-island alpine areas. Attendance at a Hiking Information Session to learn more about what to expect when venturing outdoors is mandatory for all new participants. Saturday, June 8th, 8:00 am start time. ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge Swims

The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a new annual physical activity challenge, from May 31 to June 16th, that is rallying communities across our country to sit less and move more. Canadians across the country are being challenged to track their move minutes for a chance to win prizes. Join us at Ravensong Aquatic Centre on Saturday, June 8 from 1:30-5:00 pm for an everyone welcome swim or Sunday, June 15 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for the family swim. She’s in Nature Guided Hike – Copley Ridge

This hike is approximately 6km in length, the recreational trail has an elevation gain of 200m.

Hiking Information Session

Have you ever wanted to explore some of the area’s beautiful mountains? A local alpine guide shares tips and resources for family adventures and avid hikers. Ask questions before heading out on our guided hikes or self-guided exploration in Regional Parks. Get advice on clothing, equipment and route planning to help you stay safe and enjoy the outdoors. Note: This course is MANDATORY for all new participants in the Alpine Hikes. The session is on Wednesday, June 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Oceanside Place Arena and cost is $14 per person. Red Cross AED/CPR C

Save a life when only seconds count. This six-hour course focuses on the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children and babies. Training includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Qualicum Commons, on Saturday, June 22 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost is $75. Red Cross Emergency First Aid with AED/CPR

Be prepared and get trained in first aid skills. This basic one-day course is designed to provide participants with the skills to help save a life when seconds count. Training includes home hazards, accident prevention, CPR, first aid skills for common emergencies and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Although a requirement in many workplaces, this is the perfect course for all citizens. Retraining is recommended every three years. Training includes home hazards, accident prevention, safety education, CPR level C, first aid skills for common emergencies and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Wildlife Sea Kayak Tour 10yrs+

Come for a paddle in Nanoose where the views are fabulous, the wildlife is abundant and the quiet is utterly relaxing.  We stop for a picnic on the beach, so pack your lunch. Perfect for beginners, these tours include a certified guide, the kayak, gear and instruction in paddling strokes and safety procedures. No experience necessary. Double kayaks are available to paddle with a friend or younger family members. Children 10 years + are welcome to register and attend with an adult. Sunday, June 23 from 9:45 am to 1:30 pm. School’s Out for Summer Everyone Welcome Swim
